Bowling+Bad Singing+Gay Gamers=Awesome Fun!

You know what? I'm going to stop trying to set up meetups for the gay gamers in the NYC area. Because the last couple I tried to put together were complete disasters. Well, one fell apart completely, and the other, only a few people showed up (we still had fun, though!). But when Dan and Mike teamed up, they arranged a terrifically fun evening for all involved. If you couldn't make it or just don't live in the area, make the jump to find out what you missed... pictures included!
We met at 4 at Bowlmor Lanes for some bowling. Unfortunately, all the Wii Bowling in the world won't prepare you for actually rolling a bowling ball down a dark lane towards some glowing florescent pins. We probably should've left the bumpers up... Anyway, Chad won the first game, and the rest of us simply struggled to stay out of last place. But Dan must've been a ringer, because he came through in the second game and kicked all kinds of ass, leaving us all in the dust. Cheater. And NJ Transit being what it is, and on a holiday/shopping weekend no less, Pete arrived too late for the bowling, but just in time for the much more fun part of the outing.
Because it was now time to hop a subway uptown to Duet Karaoke. Now, the only other time I've ever been to karaoke was at a regular bar, and there was absolutely no way I was going to get up and sing. Those are the kinds of places where the people singing are frustrated singers who want to show off or drunk idiots. But this place was awesome. Lots of tiny little rooms where you and your friends can hang out and sing to your heart's content. They also have a book of takeout menus so you can order whatever you want, and a bar to provide drinks. Nobody wanted to go first, so I bit the bullet and sang one of my favorite Boyzone songs. It was a little weird because I think they got some lyrics wrong, and the video attached to the tune was some kind of Japanese resort with kids in a pool or something. Some songs were the actual music video, but some newer or obscure ones were just words. The best were the '80s hits that had original videos made for the song. The one for "Mr. Roboto" was a highlight, but the David Bowie one shot in a desert had us all peeing in our pants because it ended with a credit for the location, which was apparently in "Carifornia." I kid you not. Even after two hours of tunelessly butchering Madonna, Panic At The Disco, ABBA, Diana Ross, Muse, Soft Cell and more, we could've gone on longer, but it was a school night, and we all needed our beauty rest. But we got a frequent customer card, so you can bet we'll be back to fill that thing in!

LOL! No more pictures of me! I look like a jack@ss! :-P

Nooooooooooooooooo, don't do it!!! you're so lucky that there are more than 2 people interested in the first place!!! Do it, and do it for the rest of the world without large gaygamer populations!!
