Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da PAIN!

Pain, the mere word makes one flinch from intense sense memory. The upcoming eponymous PSN title, Pain, relishes abuse to a dummy character being launched from a slingshot into an explosive-laden cityscape. Think of the carny cannonball man being shot into the Crash course Burnout Revenge, but with more mimes, glass-shattering, exploding French mimes. Get the picture? It's pretty, isn't it?
The Havok physics-based game is coming to the PSN soon with one level. Each level is a theme of the game, and the developers claim to be working on the title as an evolutionary one that will grow with player input. The updates will be released through the PSN with what I imagine will be a pay per Add-on system.
There are several game modes to give the level a bit of variety out of the singular theme, including:
Single Player
- PAINdemonium – This is your PAIN sandbox. Go nuts in this mode and collect points. The better you are in this mode, the harder you will be to beat in Multiplayer HORSE.
- Mime Toss – Fly through the air and toss French Mimes through glass. (My fave single player mode). Do it in record time for trophies.
- Spank The Monkey – Monkeys are taking over the city. Spank ‘em. You know you want to. This mode separates the kids from the adults in PAINful (the most difficult) mode.
Multiplayer
- HORSE – All those smooth moves you perfected in PAINdemonium are worth points. Go head to head with your friends and see if they can make all the sweet launches you can.
- Bowling – 10 Pins + Explosives + Cereal + Anvils – Common Sense X (1-4 Players) = The New Hotness
- Fun With Explosives – Dude, it’s all about blowing yourself up as many times as you can. How can that possibly be ANYTHING but right?
Pain looks like excrutiating fun and probably worth checking out on the PSN if it's a cheap download. If they plan on nickle-and-dimeing the player with tons of Add-on content, I hope the initial cost is minimal.

"I hope the initial cost is minimal."
The producer said the "base game" was going to be $9.99.
Kinda skimpy on the level(s), but considering the different gameplay modes, sounds pretty reasonable...
Er... Is that a gay bar there on the left? (The Manhole) Can you launch him through the door? I'm sure a cute twink uber-masochist would be quite popular there.
