Casual Games Report 2007 - Reporting The Obvious

The Casual Games Association (CGA) - yes they really are a company - have just published their annual international trade report on casual gaming. Their report is developed to provide some insight into the gaming industry and to highlight some key findings about casual gamers and what they're playing.
Some of the most interesting findings of the report are listed below:
- Over 200 million people enjoy casual gaming each month online
- Casual games are a $2.25 billion a year industry
- Men make up 48.3% of casual gamers and women 51.7%
- The most common times for casual gaming are between 7pm - 9pm every night and at lunchtime between 11am and 2pm
Games that are considered 'casual games' tend to be online games such as Solitaire, Bejeweled, Tetris and others. Really the report hasn't revealed that much to people who have a keen interest in the video games industry, but it does show that more women are actively getting involved in some kind of gaming. This of course is a good thing, and hopefully some of the larger games companies will take notice.
