Last Minute Bargain: Xbox360 HD-DVD Drive Plus Heroes Plus More
So not to throw any more fuel on the fire, but Buy.com's got a pretty good deal on the Xbox 360's HD-DVD drive right now, and it's only good for, oh, the next 4 hours or so (sorry readers with better things to do on a Sunday night). They're offering the drive, normally priced at $179.99, on sale for $169.00, but they're also including the first season of Heroes, the TV show, on HD-DVD for free, plus a copy of King Kong (the 2005 movie) and a rebate for 5 free movies of your choice (from a small list of mostly awful films... but still, FREE!). Of course, this is only good until Nov. 4th, which is today, so if you see this before midnight go check it out. I hope everyone practicing Daylight Savings Time set their clocks back this morning!
Regardless of who eventually wins the war, be it Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, or some HD download service, this offer is not too shabby if you've got an Xbox 360, love Heroes, and want to check out what this High Definition foofaraw is all about.

Best Buy offered this same deal a few weeks ago. The fiancé and I picked up the HD DVD player but Heroes was already sold out when we went into the store, usually they offer a rain check, instead they gave us a $100 dollar credit to any other HD DVD purchase in the store. We walked out with King Kong in the player package, Flags of our Fathers, Letters from Iwojima, The Host and the Reaping for the cost of the player and received the mail in rebate for 5 free additional movies. We also recently picked up the HD DVD version of Return to House on Haunted Hill for its exclusive HD "choose your own adventure" viewing mode. ^_^ So far we are VERY happy with HD DVD.
they are at least offering one of the greatest horror films of all time in that bundle....no, NOT Aeon Flux...but rather The Thing.
