NiGHTS: Into Dreams - For PS2?

I don't really know why this is happening, but it is. NiGHTS: Into Dreams is receiving a port to the Playstation 2 in Japan. The game will feature the option for "reinvisioned" visuals, movies and images. This of course means higher resolution polygons, less grainy full motion video, and hopefully better audio quality and draw distance. The game really suffered from the Saturn hardware's limitations, even if it was one of the best games for the platform. It is scheduled for a February 21st release. It has not been announced for any other regions, but you can best bet that this will be on the import lists of many a fanboy (myself included).

[thanks, Justin!]

I completely agree, this is a definite import title. It might be just me, but I'm more excited about this PS2 port than Journey of Dreams on Wii. Hopefully Sega will add X-mas NiGHTS as a bonus!
Is it just me, or is it weird that this is hitting PS2 instead of Wii? You'd think they'd want to have them both on the same console...
This actually makes perfect sense. . . but only if you've been following Japanese release charts.
For the past few years, Sega has ported a variety of titles from the Master System through the Saturn, to the PS2. Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star, Dragon Force, and Panzer Dragoon are just a few of a plethora of games that have received this treatment. The only thing that surprises me, is it took so long.
