Orange Box On PS3 "Has Issues"

We probably should have seen this coming, but PS3 owners who want to get their hands on everybody's favorite otter, Gordon Freeman, might want to start lowering expectations now. 1up is reporting that their playable build of The Orange Box for the PS3 is suffering from problems not present in either the Xbox 360 or PC versions of the title, both of which were released at the end of October. Apparently the issues affect the Half Life 2 portions of the game, including the main campaign, Episode One, and Episode Two, and consist mainly of framerate dips and irregularities, turning the game into "a slideshow" at times, according to writer David Ellis.
Portal seems to have come through the looking glass just fine, with Ellis calling the port "pitch-perfect." Due to server issues, Team Fortress 2 was not tested. The warning signs for the game first popped up when it was revealed that the PS3 Orange Box was being developed by a team within EA, not at Valve like the Xbox 360 and PC versions.
Some high-profile, mutiplatform games like Call of Duty 4 and Assassin's Creed have released nearly identical PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of their games in the past few weeks, and considering the general high quality of exclusive games Rachet & Clank and Uncharted, Sony fans might certainly expect most major developers to have gotten the hang of the console by now. Now, with scant few weeks before the game is set for release, let's cross our fingers that this "near final" version of the game that 1up's been playing wasn't nearly final after all.

HAHAHA.
