Play With Meerkats In Upcoming Discovery Game

Discovery Communications, who distribute the Discovery Channel, have teemed up with Activision to expand their broadcasting to the gaming world. Activision recently announced the partnership and declared their first game will be an adaptation of Meerkat Manor. Future games will come from the two media giants. My eye is on a virtual dating sim starring that luscious Mike Rowe, where I give him a few dirty jobs to work on.

The Chief Executive of Discovery, David Zaslav, explained to Reuters the reason for the partnership, "We are really trying to get away from being a cable company and into being a content company."

It's interesting to watch the lines between various media begin to blur in the modern age. Broadcasting businesses are beginning to see that content regardless of format is marketable. Find yourself an interest group, and distribute media to them that taps into their interests. It's a simple concept to grasp, but it wasn't long ago when Video, Audio, and Interactive Entertainment were three wholly separate institutions, governed by vastly different deities.
