Rock Band Impressions

I really don't have much to say at this point other than this is one of the single most awesome group gaming experiences I have ever had. I am currently here in Baltimore, MD visiting my folks and have come over to the home of Destructoid's Nick Chester and his lovely wife Debbey to play Rock Band with them and the smokin' hot Topher C., also of Destructoid. We have been going through the World Tour mode and it has been an absolute blast. From creating my character (Rat Bastard, pictured right) to playing all the different instruments and singing, every element is spot on and loads of fun. I would write more, but the band (Unicorn Death Foetus) is awaiting my return so we can continue our world conquering tour. More impressions and a full review to come later. ROCK ON!
(If the price tag on this one has scared you off, you might want to reconsider especially if you have a group of friends who like to play. It's worth every penny.)

Sigh. If only they'd release it for the Wii. Maybe I'll pick it up on the day when I finally get a 360 or PS3. The worst part is I actually prefer many of its songs to GHIII. The fact that they have a Coheed & Cambria song on there blows my mind.
My GameCrazy just called to inform me that they will not have it for sale today. It kind of sucks having to wait another day for Rock Band.
I did pre-order the RB bundle so when I go in tomorrow, I get $10 off. Sweet...
Rat Bastard looks pretty hot! Although he does have that emaciated heroin addict look to him! :)
Heh, I always use "Rat Bastards" as a name for any custom team I make in a sports game. That or "Sex Offenders."
My home town, though I haven't seen any hot fruit brutes around (darn). I'm still up in the air as to if i really want this.
Someone at my office picked this up over lunch. Needless to say that post-lunch not much work got done. Hardware is well constructed and clearly made with the abuse of drunken young men in mind. The guitar is especially of note. Its build, weight and feel are remarkable and a huge step up from the Fisher Price-esque GH1/2/3 guitar. (sadly the 360 guitar is is not wireless)
Being the only male in my office comfortable with letting others hear my signing voice, I don't expect too many people to try out singing over live or even locally. Drums have a steeper learning curve than guitar, but provides an experience much closer to actually playing an instrument than any other music game.
I fully expect that Gh3 will out do Rock Band in sales, but it was pretty clear from just one play session that my coworkers that the hardcore fans that brought Gh1 to everybody's attention will be making the move to Rock Band and won't think twice about it.
I'm just sad that my amazon order comes in tomorrow when i wish I could be playing it now. As Homer once said, "The Waiting game sucks. Who wants to play Hungry Hungry Hippos?"
Anyone game for some multiplayer over live tomorrow can shout at my (tag: GameBoiAdvance)
@MuddBstrd: I'm with you, buddy. In fact, I have a PS3 version of Rock Band I'm putting on eBay, just because I'm waiting for the Wii version to match my Guitar Hero III controller.
I've been playing at my friends house for the last 10 hours straight. I've spent a lot of time playing on Expert and hard on drums and can say that it's a lot closer to playing an instrument than I've seen in any other games. The guitar parts aren't as hard as GH3, of course, but it does fit the song perfectly. The vocal sections are pretty sweet too, at least if you like Karaoke revolution. Personally, I'm loving the drums more than anything else in the game, but I DID get to play it with 4 players and I can say that if you have a person on drums that can't do a decent, fitting solo, it can completely throw off the lead guitarist =\
