Turn 10 Tricks On Your PS3

Ever wanted to make a little extra cash with that big black beast sitting beside your TV? I know I do, times are hard, and rent is due. When your non-PS3 owning friends are over, and you want to ease them into the wonders of the console, strike a deal with them that they owe you $1 for every item on this list, because these bullets are priceless.

  1. Play Games From Any Country. Region-free gaming rocks! Ask anyone with a Nintendo DS.
  2. Hush Hush Video Reset. Hold down the power button when powering the system back on, and the beast resets the video settings, sending a 480p signal that most TVs will display.
  3. Check The Juice In Your Pad. Press the PS button, and check the charge on your controller.
  4. Download Game Saves. Google search "PS3 game saves" and you will see them floating around the intertubes. Grab one, put it on a USB stick, and select it from the Game Saves on the XMB, and copy it over.
  5. Video Phone Party Line. Everyone participating needs an EyeToy with USB headset or a PS Eye. Simply select a friend on your list and press the Triangle button, then send them a chat request with a line like "Videochat?". They will receive the message and can choose to accept the videochat. Then you will see two images on the screen, one of yourself and one of your friend. Once you connect, you can then send the message to four more friends for a saucy sixway.
  6. Browse Multiple Internet Windows. When surfing the net on the browser, press the L3 button to open a new browsing window. Navigate them with the left stick, then press the L3 button again to pull the selected page up.
  7. Almost Effortless Hard Drive Swapping. Switching out the hard drive is simple, just make sure you have the appropriate laptop-sized hard drive and follow the simple instructions in the manual.
  8. Share Your Downloads. Create a new user on your friend's PS3, and log in with your name. Go to the PlayStation Store and download content you have already paid for. You can re-download your content up to five times.
  9. Force That PS3 To Show Your Files. On a USB stick, place a folder called 'PICTURE' or 'VIDEO' then plug it into your PS3. Move to Pictures on your XMB and press Triangle, choose "Show All" and voila, all files will display on the XMB.
  10. Choose Different Album Art For Your Music. Follow the above instructions and place the image in the PICTURE folder. Then move to Music on the XMB, and select the file or folder with the music, press the Triangle button. Then choose Information, and go to the photo you want, and presto chango! Your album has been updated.

Note about Region-free gaming: PS1/PS2 imports will not play on a PS3. My copies of Xai, Beatmania, Vib Ribbon, MojiRibbon and DDR cry bitter tears.
