Video: Only On PS3 TV Spot
There's been an unusual glut of TV spots for games this season, or so it feels, and I can't help but get a little excited for the PS3 when I see this well-assembled advertisement. The fact that a good portion of the game content we see here is still unreleased does not escape me, but it still seems to speak to the Greek Chorus that's been supplicating the PS3 (as well as the PSP, but that's a horse of a different color) since its release: "More games!"
My question is this: does a TV spot filled with shots of Home, Uncharted, and Ratchet & Clank boost your confidence in the PS3, or does it leave you feeling overhyped and underpaid? I'm excited by or for everything I see in this ad - at the very least, I suppose, it makes me hope this holiday season is good for the PS3.

Wow. That has actually made me want one a bit more. And that whole "starting at $399" thing was a really good idea to have at the end of it.
I'm also glad they didn't pull that bullshit they tried in Japan where they had a commercial whose entire point was to say that FFXIII is only on PS3. At least the unreleased exclusive games in this commercial will actually be released in the relatively near future.
That video is hot.
I agree..this TV ad does get me a little excited for some the game offerings for the PS3 as well as the price point at the end..but I'm still on the fence...I'm hoping that the PS3 will come out with something that will really push those systems off shelves.
It reminds me of some of the commercials Commodore and Atari put out in the early 90's to try to convince people the Amiga or CD32 or Jaguar still had it: aimed at people who already own one more than people who aren't really aware of it.
Except in this case, Sony actually has the money to put them on the air when people will see them. Between that and the price drop, they ought to be able to lure in more of their 13- to 18-year-old male target audience. I've seen more Nintendo than PS3 (or 360) ads in the last year, but I'm sure that's only due to not ever watching wrestling.
