Weekly XBLA Update - 11/07/07 - Balls, Balls, Balls!
This Wednesday XBLA graces us with plain and tall puzzler Word Puzzle and awesomely flashy Switchball. The former is a videogamification of your basic word search, souped up with 3D boards, bombs, and all kinds of challenges and such, as well as Xbox LIVE Vision Camera support. 800 Microsoft points.
Switchball is another videogamification of a once-tactile kind of puzzle, taking the ball-in-maze and ball-on-tracks theme to a level only 800 Microsoft Points and an impulse buy could warrant. Sierra Online (still kickin'...) brings you this heavily ball-oriented game, in which you'll switch from Metalball to Powerball to Airball, then drop on down to Marbleball before cruising into what is probably notHandball. Two-player co-op play and 8 player competitive racing. 800 Microsoft Points.
Switchball sounds the flashiest and is probably the favored son, but I've always loved word searches and have often wished they could be harder - so Word Puzzle is the bookish but engrossing pick of the week, for me. Hug your local librarian!
