Xbox 360 Rockin' The Sales Boat

Microsoft has been keeping a happy bank account as of late. That trend certainly seems like it will continues right on through the Holiday Season. For the month of October, the Xbox 360 ranked number one in consumer spending with $354 million in total revenue. That total is almost matches the combined revenue of both the Wii ($246 million) and PlayStation 3 ($116 million) in October. That's not all. The press release doled out these figures just before bedtime last night:
In addition to leading in total consumer spend, Xbox 360 led in software sales:
- Xbox 360 software revenue at retail surpassed that of Wii and PS3 combined
- Xbox 360 holds the #1 & #2 spot in the Top Ten list across all consoles --Halo 3 (Microsoft Game Studios) sold 434K units and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (RedOctane/Activision) sold 383K units
- Xbox 360 is delivering the highest-rated games lineup this generation, with 7 out of the top 10 rated games through the end of October according to Metacritic, the world-wide authority in entertainment reviews
Not bad, not bad at all. Do you think Microsoft can hold onto this lead through the remainder of the year?

To make a long story short:... "Halo".
Not that I don't want to give 360 games due credit, but the press release is a wee bit skewed. Look at the rest of the list and you can see how Microsoft used some funny language to make themselves sound better.
Hardware Sales:
1. Wii (519,000)
2. Nintendo DS (458,000)
3. Xbox 360 (366,000)
4. Sony PSP (286,000)
5. Sony PlayStation 2 (184,000)
6. Sony PlayStation 3 (121,000)
Software Sales:
1. Halo 3 (Xbox 360) 433,800
2. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (with Guitar) (Xbox 360) 383,200
3. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (with Guitar) (Wii) 286,300
4. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (with Guitar) (Playstation 2) 271,100
5. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo DS) 262,800

Yes, Halo and GH3 topped the software list, but Wii consoles still outsold 360s by a healthy 60,000 units.
I agree its a bit skewed. Saying that, both the Wii and the 360 are both doing exceptionally well.
