Golden Compass Game Has The Real Ending

I only just saw The Golden Compass today, and while I thoroughly enjoyed it, you could also plainly see that as dense as it was, there was likely still much more content in the book that simply couldn't make the transition to the silver screen. Now I read that the ending of the film was changed at the last minute, but that scenes from the original ending are actually included in the videogame.
Apparently, the game follows the book much more closely than the film, keeping events in their correct chronology. And while I'd love to see how it all is supposed to go, I'm probably going to opt for reading the books instead of playing the licensed game. Those are rarely a safe bet.
For those of you who saw the movie and are curious, I've included one of the cut scenes after the jump. Spoilers ahoy!

SPOILER REAL ENDING OF THE BOOK:
In fact Lord Asriel is a total bastard : he betray Lyra and cut the link between Roger and his Daemon to pass in the other dimension.
So Roger became sick and mental and Lyra is kinda responsable for this.
Plus the sweet girl hates now her father as much as she hates her mother. What a lovely childhood...
(and sorry for grammatical faults but I'm french!)
That's.. not.. Lord Asriel!
I hate movies of books, especially since His Dark Materials is among my favourites.
Also, Lyra has all the acting ability of Keanu Reeves, it seems. :( But still, good that there's an ending that's a touch more faithful to the books now.
I was disappointed with the movie. I tried to disconnect it from the books as much as possible.. but eh.
It just seemed hard to feel anything for most of the character. Things seemed to move at such a fast pace, that you never got to really understand why you should be rooting for Lyra.
Yes, Asriel is a bastard. Just about as bad as Mrs. Coultre
Though.. there were some good things about the movies. I loved Nicole Kidman, she was great. Also Daniel Craig! He's such a hottie. Ian McKellen was great too.
Saw the movie this weekend...and sadly...hated it. I just felt there was too much story to fit on the screen and so many characters we never really got to know. I wish I could say I'd check out the game but unless I rent it...I'll probably pass.
