Greenpeace Still Thinks People Take Them Seriously

Ah, Greenpeace, the Jack Thompson of environmentalist groups. Seriously, you gotta love how they tend to use their environmental ratings in their vendettas against whatever companies have pissed them off lately. Remember when they gave Apple Computers all that negative press about their environmental policies, even though the EPA gave Apple leading marks in all categories? Or how they issued a press release with the words, "In the twenty years since the Chernobyl tragedy, the world's worst nuclear accident, there have been nearly [FILL IN ALARMIST AND ARMAGEDDONIST FACTOID HERE]." Seriously, they're enough to make me think of quitting the Green Party and joining the Republicans just to piss them off.
Our favorite environmental alarmists are unimpressed by Nintendo's response to their recent low scores in the group's environmental report; over at their Making Waves blog, Greenpeace states:
We did give Nintendo the chance several times to address issues before the report was published. Therefore Nintendo should not have been surprised by the report having received it in advance…No response was received from Nintendo despite reminders. Before the ranking was published Nintendo received their ranking to correct or question anything we may have missed. No response was received.
Well, to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't give Greenpeace the time of day, either, so I can't say I blame Nintendo... if those accusations are actually true. The (rabid) watchdog group has created a website called Clash of the Consoles, which features a poorly-made video of Kratos, Master Chief, and Mario dealing with a toxic wasteland created by the supposed pollutants in their respective consoles. Gee, I wonder how long the video will manage to stay online before some legally bitch-slaps Greenpeace and makes them take it down.
[Greenpeace Responds To Nintendo’s Response [GamePolitics]

I'm kinda guessing what they were saying at GamePolitics, it probably went to someone who had more important things to do then to deal with the likes of Greenpeace, and well, they got pissy and made this video.
Heh, this video is pretty damn bad though, especially since the characters mouths don't even move, but of course, thats just the least of the troubles with this video.
What I think is pretty funny is the rrod on the 360 though.
"The Jack Thompson of environmentalist groups"
Seriously, what? They're trying to stop major corporations from polluting the planet, and you whinge because they (rightfully) pick up Nintendo on their appalling record?
Hopefully websites like this will raise awareness of the damage the gaming industry (among other corporate groups) is doing to the planet. It's not just a pissy vendetta, this affects us all, and this article seems flippant and naive to extremes.
You're kidding right, they get all pissy when people don't hand over their info, like the way Nintendo did, so they gave Nintendo a 0 in all areas, I'd have to say thats pretty bad.
That seems fair to me. If you refuse a test, don't expect a high mark.
Even when the company and stuff is busy? Yeah, as I said, they just got pissy the way they did with Apple that one time.
Personally, I think Greenpeace made themselves look bad with this video.

And besides, Nintendo looks like they're doing what they can to avoid polluting, but Greenpeace still slammed them with that video. Bad.
Greenpeace are environmental terrorists. They have no authority and therefore no one should feel the need to respond to them.
rather than try and educate consumers and corporations, they attack and sensationalize hoping to try and damage companies in their profit margin to get them to listen to Greenpeace.
@Jamison:
Like I said, the Jack Thompson of environmentalist groups.
I didn't realise how far right the American mindset really is in contrast with the rest of the world. Greenpeace have done more to protect the planet and it's inhabitants than any other group out there. Without their efforts the issue of environmental decline would be even worse than it is today.
And I'm sure lassez-faire capitalists will listen really, really hard if you try to educate them about spending more to reduce their environmental effect.
And quite frankly, you sound like an eco-nut. Honestly, they made themselves look bad with this, but, I don't expect you to listen.
Brandon:
And quite frankly, you sound like an eco-nut.
I think you just proved his/her point. Why so reactionary?
Mainly because video games and consoles seem to be getting the rap for everything lately. First it was violence, and now it seems that video games are poisoning the planet, when none of that is true.
Well this is journalism at its finest.
@Rosethorn
Far Right? I'm in Europe and Greenpeace are thought to be enviro-nutjobs by lots of Far Left & Middle-ground people here too. The're the sort of organisation that well meaning middle-class people join because they vagely feel it's 'the right thing to do' but don't take time to actually read up on what's happening in the world let alone how Greenpeace's approach and activities impact on the real world. I've been involved with Green Political parties over here and critical thought was so lacking in the green community I had to leave as I thought my memberships alonev gave complicit approval for their 'faith'-based activities.
"Greenpeace have done more to protect the planet and it's inhabitants than any other group out there."
You really need to substantiate statements like that hon.
