MTV Lists Top 10 Downloadable Games This Year
MTV's Jason Cipriano has listed his choices for the top 10 downloadable games of 2007. For the most part, I agree with his choices with maybe a little rearranging to be had. Here they for you to agree/disagree with:
- Pac-Man: Championship Edition (Xbox 360)
- Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (Wii)
- Everyday Shooter (PlayStation 3)
- Puzzle Quest (Xbox 360)
- Extend Every Extra Extreme (Xbox 360)
- Sin & Punishment (Wii)
- Warhawk (Playstation 3)
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PSP)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game (Xbox 360)
- Super Mario Bros. 3 (Wii)
The Xbox 360 takes first place with having the most games on the list. The Wii comes in second with it's awesomely retro set of games while the PS3 comes in third. Frankly, I don't think Warhawk should be on the list, but if you want to see his reasoning for including it on there (and I can see his point of view), just follow the link. Before you go, are there any that you think should have made the list but didn't? How about games that shouldn't be on here in the first place?

I'm shocked UNO from the XBLA isn't up there. Most people I know I have it and I would have assumed it would be similar elsewhere.

Why would you put "Lost Levels" on there? That game is just.... ergh >.
Usually when I see these lists I never understand why the authors make the choices they do. But with this I actually agree with most of these games. I would have placed Sin & Punishment higher and put Puzzle Quest lower. I wasn't exactly a fan of Warhawk's price to content ratio but it seems like they might be fixing this shortly. I really think that both PacMan CE and S&P did not get the attention they truly deserved and it's great to see them on this list. These are not just great downloadable games, but they are just great games period.
Other games that could/should have made the list: Carcassonne, Alien Soldier, Super Star Soldier/Blazing Lasers, Super Metroid, Super Stardust HD.
I'd get rid of the awful TMNT and add Catan on XBLA. I bet I played that game more hours than any other this year, outside of Mass Effect and Halo 3. Honorable mentions to Hexic 2, Uno, and Carcassonne.

Honestly I think a list of the top 10 most downloaded games would have been more useful, but I guess I can agree with the list overall. The Lost Levels barely count as a game, I have never been a huge fan of Pac Man, and I think Puzzle Quest is only a good game if you throw it out a window after playing it for 30 min... but thats just me.
Also Castlevania: SoTN is a damn amazing game and I am sad its not for download on the Wii.
