Nintendo Pulling Wii Advertising Due To Shortages

Now, I've heard some pretty zany stuff working around here. One thing I've never imagined, however, is a company pulling its own advertising because its product is too popular. And yet that is just what Nintendo is doing with Wii adverts.
Because demand for the Wii "has been unprecedented and higher than Nintendo could ever have anticipated,” Nintendo is "looking at moving some advertising on some products into early 2008” in order to "act responsibly."
This comes as a crushing blow to all of the people desperately seeking a Wii this season, even though Nintendo has hiked its production estimates for this year to 17.5 million Wiis.

Nintendo has seriously underestimated the demand for their product... for the second year in a row!!! What the hell?! Just make the damn things; people will buy them! I guess Nintendo must really hate money or something...
I still haven't been able to get my hands on one :\ The disadvantage in living in a city where you've got 1 million neighbors D:
Also, I'm not so sure it's Nintendo underestimating demands as much as Nintendo not having the production facilities to keep up with the demand. If they were to expand they're production, they'd cut into their margin and would perhaps raise the price of the Wii.
Good Point Mythology... I think they like the hype as well...Wii being constantly sold out is a nice thing to have on your resume. I guess I was lucky that one day I walked into the local gamestop and there was one sitting on the back counter...I simply stated in awe "Is...is...that a Wii???!" They replied, "Yes it is...we have seven in stock...but you can only buy one"...Sheesh I didnt care about the others...damn Im broke so I cant afford to make a little profit off the apparent lack of availability of the Wii, so I picked one up...only to never again see a Wii available anywhere else since...talk about luck lol...I still find it hard that they cant keep up with demand...I mean its practically two Gamecubes slapped together lol, but I suppose before the Wii came along Gamecube was never in the frenzy as the Wii is
Give Nintendo a break. Noone anticipated this kind of demand even though they are manufacturer more consoles than their competitors! I'm sure if Nintendo can magically make more Wiis they would - it is money they are losing not able to sell more Wiis.
Just get someone you know who works at Walmart to grab one of the truck and buy it for you like I did yesterday haha. Close call though.
They really are not that hard to find if you simply go to a store (or call) in the morning on the day that a truck comes to a Target, Walmart, etc. Most people are just lazy and want the product to be there on the shelves whenever they feel like shopping and it just doesn't work like that for popular items.
