PS2 Gets Extra Twisted
Let's twist again, like we did last summer... or at least when we all had PS1's in our living rooms. The granddaddy of all car combat games, Twisted Metal, is making another appearance on a Sony console. But as you can see from the title of this article, it's not a next-gen game. No, in fact, in the spirit of Syphon Filter and GTA, it's yet another PSP to PS2 port. (I don't know if that's a complement to the PSP or an insult to the PS2 that these ports seem so easy for Sony to pull off.)
Twisted Metal: Head-On: Extra Twisted Edition (with extra colons!) should be crashing your way in Spring of 2008, and will contain "enhanced graphics" and four "lost" levels that were actually built for the never-released Twisted Metal: Black. (maybe there's a reason they went missing?) The really curious thing is the level where players can apparently take Sweet Tooth out of his ice cream truck and run around on foot. Wha?! Twisted Metal is all about vehicular manslaughter. You don't get out! Keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times! What are they thinking? And even weirder is that you explore on foot "an all-new level filled with factoids about the Twisted Metal universe straight from the developers." Huh?
But for all you Twisted Metal fans out there (are there still any?), the game also includes an art booklet featuring unseen concept art from the franchise. Twisted Metal: Head-On: Extra Twisted Edition provides all the fast-paced vehicular combat and destruction that fans of the franchise have come to know and love. The latest installment in the multi-million selling franchise provides a variety of gameplay options, as gamers can go head-to-head or compete against the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and deliver the devastation as they strap themselves into one of 14 lethal machines on wheels equipped with machine guns, turbo boosts and special attacks unique to each vehicle.

o Story Mode – Drivers choose their vehicle and progress through a series of arenas.
o Challenge – Drivers choose their vehicle, arena, AI controlled enemies, then go off to battle.

o Players – Single-player or 2-player split-screen.
• Vehicles – Choose from different destructive vehicles. Each vehicle is armed with serious firepower, turbo boost and each with a unique devastating specialty attack.

I used to love the Twisted Metal Games, then and Vigilate 8.
Although Twisted Metal Black and Twisted Metal Black Online we're less then exciting.
