If you have your heart absolutely set on watching the events of the Video Game Awards unfold live Sunday night on SpikeTV, this is your warning. Major suspense-killing spoilers ahead!

The winners aren't all upsets by any means, but I was glad to see some well deserved recognition go around. Keep reading for more winners.

Easily the most rapturous win of the evening was easily Bioshock taking the coveted Game of the Year award among several others. Our congratulations go out to all the winners! Though to be honest, I feel like I'm the real winner this year, with all these great games.

  • Game of the Year: Bioshock
  • Studio of the Year: Harmonix
  • Best Shooter: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Best RPG: Mass Effect
  • Best Military Game: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Best Individual Sports Game: Skate
  • Best Handheld Game: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
  • Best Graphics: Crysis
  • Best Game Movie/TV: The Simpson's Game
  • Best Rhythm Game: Rock Band
  • Best Driving Game: Dirt
  • Best Action Game: Super Mario Galaxy
  • Best Team Sports Game: Madden NFL '08
  • Best Soundtrack: Rock Band
  • Breakthrough Technology: The Orange Box/Portal
  • Best Xbox 360 Game: Bioshock
  • Best Wii Game: Super Mario Galaxy
  • Best PS3 Game: Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
  • Best PC Game: The Orange Box
  • Best Original Score: Bioshock
  • Best Multiplayer Game: Halo 3

Thanks to 1P Start for being quick on the draw with these. Meanwhile, I'm going to head back to a freshly unpacked Rock Band drum kit and get all the drumming I can in before I'm revisted by "the ring" again.

Halo 3 has the best online gameplay? Better then CoD4 or TF2?

BioShock game of the year? My vote would go to Mass Effect, Orange Box, or CoD4. How does CoD4 get best shooter but BioShock get Game of the Year?

How is there not a best "strategy game of the year"?

Sorry.

You were looking up stuff on the VGAs?

Halo 3 over TF2? I think not.
I can accept Bioshock as GotY, and certainly for best 360 game, though.

As far as watching Spike, I will give them credit for having most of the Star Trek series as well as CSI. Guilty Pleasures ho!

But Halo 3 does not deserve best multi-player. Rock band I could see, Orange Box I could see, but Halo 3's multiplayer does nothing different.

While I don't find it odd, I am saddened that Metroid Prime 3 didn't win anything.

Next year they oughta have a "Best Handheld Multiplayer" category.

Spike TV's video game awards are stupid. Beyond stupid and they have little to do with gaming and good games.

Yes there are many good games on that list but let's not forget some of those games are just recently released and ignoring games that have been out for a minute.

I mean didn't they award 50 Cents game right before it was released or a little after and go figure, it sucked?

The 1st year was just a long Rockband/skate board show with little about gaming.

The next couple years were just about stupid music stars coming on to give a small concert.

The 3rd year same thing but it had really bad promotion and advertising on various games and systems.

Remember the idiots who brought the PSP on stage to tell how good it was? I bet those actors didn't even know how to use it....

The VGA each year is a dissapoint and a huge let down.

Also, how is the Orange Box "Breakthrough Technology"?

Forgive my ignorance but isn't the Orange Box just ports of old games with added features and graphics?

The new Mario and Mass Effect are great games, though Mass Effect does have many problems it is still a good game but I don't think either has been out long enough to warrent any awards except maybe the Wii or Halo that have broke various records.

His Shadow - The Orange Box consists of 5 parts: Half Life 2 and HL2: Episode 1, both of which had been released already, as well as HL2:Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal, which are all new to the package. The Technology award was really for the Portal side of the game, and I think most people who have played it would agree that it's a really impressive use of the Source engine, as well as a pretty unique puzzle/platform game design. Whether or not it deserved to win isn't for me to say, but I'm definitely glad to see it there over some of the other nominees in that category.

I'm actually happy to see Orange Box taking best PC game while Bioshock is considered best Xbox game. The orange box, in my opinion, would be deserving of best Xbox game as well IF the ability to import custom content and play with PC players had been included. The fact Bioshock got game of the year seemed rather odd since I didn't particularly like Bioshock all that much and it seemed to borrow a lot from past videogame ideas without being too original. Crysis deserved best graphics because let's face it that's all it can possibly win. What disappointed me is the fact that Halo 3 was even mentioned due to it's disappointingly unoriginal multiplayer aspects. TF2 or Call of Duty 4 would have made fantastic games to place in that category. But I believe this contest was established to give equal mentioning to all recently launched titles. This is certainly not like the Oscars where a really good movie will earn every single award it deserves. The whole contest feels rigged.

I totally predicted skate. would win sports game of the year, seeing as how it's the only one in years that's done anything innovative and actually succeeded. I don't think they'll be able to do that one again though ^o^. Some of the other ones were predictable, such as Halo 3, which, despite its' flaws, totally drew in a huge crowd of gamers and media personalities due to its sales and the hype surrounding the game. Personally though, I hate Halo 3 =(

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
