The saga of the fan translation of Mother 3 is inching forward due to the valiant combined efforts of Starmen.net. In one of the best documented cases of uncrushable fan fortitude, the folks at Starmen have compiled the efforts of many fans across the world with fan art galleries, many pleas to Nintendo for an official translation and the key to end the madness, their own translation of Mother 3.
The story of Mother 3 has a long and sordid past, from it's roots on the Nintendo 64, it's cancellation, to the reprisal on the GBA. The development of the title has spanned from console to handheld, and the third dimension to the second. What makes this game so special? Ask anyone who has played Earthbound, and you would probably get an earful.
Here is the first ten minutes of the game, in English, something I never thought I would see when all hopes were lost for an official translation. Earthbound fans enjoy, and for all else who haven't played it, this is a great example of the irreverent humor and innocent style that makes the title so special.

Can't say I'm a fan. I get how quirky adventures might lead a cult following, but I'm really very easily pleased with the standard mythical fare. I just wish something like Secret of Mana 2 would get the same attention.I gave it a quick go but the translation was horrible and the gameplay confusing. Dunno whether that was my fault or the translations', but I'd really like to find out...
