Weekly XBLA Update - 12/19/07

For this week's XBLA update we have an arcade classic and three new tracks for Rock Band! We were also supposed to get the Sensible World of Soccer, but the game was pulled and bugs are being worked on.
Olde school gamers can get some HD retro gaming goodness in the form of Tempest, one of my favorite machines from the arcade era. Tempest will run you mere 400 MS Points.
Rock Band gets some new content with three new individual songs: My Iron Lung by Radiohead (160 points), Brass In Pocket as made famous by The Pretenders (160 points), Buddy Holly by Weezer (160 points).
This will definitely be one of those rare weeks when I download all the available content although I must confess I'm a bit of a whore for those Rock Band songs. I just can't get enough of them. It's like Pokemon for rock fans...

Tempest! That and Crystal Castles used to be my two favorite games! I got through the red level on this one...ah, good times...
I don't own an Xbox, but I've purchased nearly every home version of Tempest I could find (including the Jaguar, which is still the best home version). The problem is that Tempest is crap without a spinner. I doubt the Xbox version will be any different. "Left" and "right" doesn't do this game justice. I thought that Atari Classics for the DS would approximate a spinner, but no. I'm hoping the Arkanoid knob attachment might rectify this.
