Weekly XBLA Update - 12/4/07 - Super Special Wrong Day Edition

As someone young and beautiful mentioned yesterday, Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday comes on Tuesday this week. It also comes without new games - but because I'm such a dedicated reporter, I'm bringing you the scoop anyhow.
The scoop, as it were, involves the first five titles in the Arcade Hits program, which is a fancy way for Microsoft to sell you its most popular XBLA titles at "permanently reduced prices" (which sounds funny - isn't that just a price cut? Or am I being nitpicky?).
At 800 Microsoft Points we have Lumines LIVE! and Bankshot Billiards 2, and at 400 Microsoft Points we see Marble Blast Ultra, Small Arms and Zuma Deluxe. Several folks have pointed out that Lumines LIVE! was already 800 MP, and while my RRoD prevents me from checking directly to see if the Arcade Hits price includes other DLC that was previously not-free, it seems like this is mostly a semantic move on Microsoft's point - I believe Lumines LIVE! was discounted recently, while some of the other games here were discounted as long ago as last fall. Now that the discounts are permanent (hey, look, I answered my own question!), Microsoft can... can sell them to us all over again while... while not giving us anything new this week.
Wait a minute, that sounds not fun. On the bright side, cheaper games is cheaper games, any way you slice it. Make the jump for details.
The Arcade Hit program (permanent price reduction on some Arcade titles) launches on Tuesday this week. The first titles out of the gate are:
* Bankshot Billiards 2" (PixelStorm). "Bankshot Billiards 2" improves on the original with nine game styles: classic 8-Ball, 9-Ball, Cutthroat, Euro 8-Ball, 14.1 Continuous, 3-Ball, Trick Shots, Time Trial and Golf. The game will be available for 800 Microsoft Points.
* Lumines LIVE!" (Q Entertainment Inc.). "Lumines LIVE!" is a deep and entertaining game experience, enhanced with vibrant music and newly designed skins that players can custom-select in Skin Edit mode. The game will be available for 800 Microsoft Points.
* Marble Blast Ultra" (Garage Games). In "Marble Blast Ultra," players compete against each other by navigating marbles through moving platforms and dangerous hazards, while collecting rare gems and power-up enhancements, in an effort to complete each course in record time. The game is available for 400 Microsoft Points.
* Small Arms" (Gastronaut Studios). Easy to pick up but hard to put down, "Small Arms" is a frantic multiplayer action game with the feel of an arcade shooter. The game is available at 400 Microsoft Points.
* Zuma Deluxe" (Oberon Media). Gamers can explore more than 20 realms in Adventure mode and put their skills to the test in this fast-paced puzzle game. The game is available at 400 Microsoft Points.
Edit: Yes, this is the Arcade ‘release’ this week. There is no game release on Wednesday.

Oh wow. I don't know where I can play Lumines with the skins shown in those screens, but I need to. Immediately!
