When You Wiish Upon A GayGamer

Like a football dad with a state finalist son, I have to brag about one of our own.
During their road trip across the nation, Fruit Brute and Toots pulled into the infamous Big Texan Steak Ranch, a place once satirized on The Simpsons for serving a 72oz steak, for a Texas-sized hunk of meat or six.
Fruit Brute was wearing his "Muscleman Reggie" T-shirt, over which their waitress exclaimed "Oh, the Wii! Do you know what that is?"
As it turns out, the Wii was the Christmas wish from the waitress' 23 year-old son, who has lived paralyzed along one side of his body since a bout with spinal meningitis damaged his nervous system at the age of four. The waitress had borrowed $200 from her employer so she'd be sure to have enough money on hand to snap up the system for her son - or so she thought.
"I don't know where I'm going to find one, but I'll find it. He's such a good boy and he really deserves this."
FB and Toots didn't have the heart to tell her about the Wii shortage, but Fruit Brute spent the rest of the meal on his iPhone trying to track down a local Wii, and when that search turned up empty, continued to try to track one down during their drive. Having had spinal meningitis himself when he was 20, and nearly dying after being in a coma for three days, Fruit Brute had a special motivation.
But a weekend post on Kotaku told the tale and, I'm proud to say, a donated Wii has just arrived at FB's temporary palace in San Francisco! Not only that, but EA, Namco, Capcom and a few anonymous companies have all agreed to donate games to help put a glorious finish on this Tall Tale from Texas!
Whether it's a Christmas miracle or a gay ol' coincidence, I'd like to applaud Fruit Brute's generosity and perseverance in making sure a young man in Texas gets a turn of good luck for a change - and for making the dream of a hard-working, loving mom come true as well. Bravo and thanks for being a one-man Child's Play all of our own!
