Xbox LIVE Still Struggling

Ever since the Christmas holidays rolled around, Xbox LIVE has been as unreliable as that friend who drinks too much and disappears from the club early without telling you where they're going, or with whom. Or is it "with who?" I always forget. Anyway, I've noticed that my Xbox has spun and spun and spun and not actually loaded my info, and occasionally I'll head to one of the other tabs just so I can start my game. And sometimes, it'll tell me how many friends I've got online, but not actually load the info onto the screen. It's annoying, but not the end of the world. At least not for me. But judging by Xbox forums all over the interwebs, it's upsetting a lot of people. On his blog, Major Nelson has posted a response to angry Xbox LIVE players:
You may have noticed that the LIVE service has been having a few issues over the past few days. This includes things like signing in, matchmaking and account recovery. Not everyone has had problems, but I know some of you have and I wanted to give you and update. While the service was never completely offline, problems like this are not acceptable. The entire LIVE team has been working day and night to ensure that you can have a great LIVE experience. While we’re not done yet, I wanted to let you know that things are getting better each hour and that no one on the team is going anywhere until the job is done. Thanks for your patience.
Well, that's... helpful, I guess. I mean, obviously Microsoft is going to do whatever they can to fix the problem. But to not explain the problem or give a possible ETA for a solution, or what the solution might be is a little irksome. And this was posted on the 29th, and my Xbox LIVE is still twitchy today. Ah well, what are you going to do? Actually play a game with someone in the same room? That's crazy talk!

Ah, you gotta love PR language. My favorite was that first bit.

Yes, I would call not being able to sign into the service an "issue".
Looks like all the new xbox live gamers are killing xbox live for everyone :(
Well at least I know there were issues now. I'll have to tell my friend.
Funny it worked long enough so he could use his credit card to get points though. And then nothing else. Priorities ;)
Yeah I've been having problems off and on. They're really weird. Like it'll say I'm online and show my friends and all their info, but then when I try to, say, use content that I purchased on my old console, it says I must be signed in to do that... but then I am... but I'm not. Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR! WOO!
I dont really care. while xbox360 is sold in my country, the xbox live service does not exist, so I can only use it with a fake UK address (and then it never lets me buy anthing of course, because the fake UK address isn't the same one I have at my bank account).
the interesting thing is that I was able to buy final fantasy XI without any problem when I bought the machine. LOL
ah well, microsoft shit. what else is new?
