Buying Games From Virtual Console Saves You Money

Virtual Console...Wins!

The folks over at Vintage Computing and Gaming have dutifully gone through the entire Virtual Console catalog on the Wii and cross-checked its offerings against the good old CDs and cartridges. Not surprisingly, the VC came out cheaper. However, I was a little bit surprised that the NES games were cheaper on cartridges rather than on the Virtual Console. As you can see on the handy thumbnail of an image above this article, buying games on the Virtual Console saves you almost $1,200.

Thats not bad at all, but I must express my opinion that there's nothing better than having the original game and controller in your hands. Sadly, the cost of obtaining the hardware to play these games also adds to the price of getting the games themselves. I'm an avid game collector, so I'm always on the hunt for good deals on vintage systems and games. That is why I am so glad there are really good local shops like this one that cater to people such as myself and, of course, eBay. ...but if you just cannot find that one game and it happens to be on the VC, that is easily your best bet. You'll obviously save a lot of money, too. Just hope on over to VC&G to see for yourself.

So tell me, with the rise of the Virtual Console, have you slowed your spending on buying the real games in favor of getting them on the VC or not?
