CES 2008: PSP GPS In US

Between the 16G memory stick and the Skype announcement, it would seem that Sony is bound and determined to make its PSP the go-to portable gadget for anything and everything the trendy young consumer could want. Case in point: Sony has indicated that the previously Japan-only GPS accessory would soon be released in these very United States. Apparently, when it came out in Japan last year, it only cost about $43, which seems quite reasonable considering how expensive most GPS devices are. (Of course, you've already spent the bulk of the money on the PSP already, but I'm feeling generous)
I'm not sure how much use I'd give it, but what about you guys? Is this something you might actually want, or is Sony totally barking up the wrong tree here?

With this and several other interesting functions of the PSP, I'd actually consider buying it over the DS or possibly even and iPod, were I buying it for non-game media capabilities. It just seems like there's so much neat stuff coming out for the PSP; it's become much more attractive than I thought Sony would ever make it.
It seems to me too little too late. I just got a gps i was Tired of waiting for the promised peripheral for a year and a half. Sorry Sony my moneys been spent on that, though if it's 35 bucks i might get it for the bf.
