Download DS Games Through The Wii

Good ol' Reggie dropped a nice tidbit in a recent New York Times article Monday. While the article was discussing the success of Nintendo with the the Wii and DS, This quote hinted at something Nintendo fans have long been awaiting.
Mr. Fils-Aime said that future DS device will be more tightly integrated with its Wii console. Complete games as well as game samplers will be able to be downloaded into the Wii using its broadband connection, and then transferred wirelessly to the DS.
I have to say I had expected them to have rolled this out far already. The ability to download content from the Wii, or use the DS as a controller is something I desperately want. There are still a few hurdles to overcome though... you'd have to redownload things every time you turned off the DS, or switched to a DS game. If they introduced some sort of storage medium used in the cartridge or memory card slots, they might opening the system up to pirated games. (Then again, I believe there are already be third party memory cards). Personally, I'd like something that fits smoothly with the GBA slot on my DS Lite.

Actually, hasn't Nintendo already announced a 1st party cartridge that will use microSD cards? After I heard that announcement, I suspected they would launch a service exactly like this. So it's no big surprise.
I wonder if this will mean there will be a handheld version of the Virtual Console? I can hope.
