Download UT3 Mods Directly To The PS3
Last month Unreal Tournament 3 hit the PS3 and became the first console game to really embrace user-generated content. The Unreal Engine 3 is a beefy tool to work with, providing users the ability to create scores of new levels and content for UT3. The best part of it all, the content is provided at the lowest cost imaginable, it's completely free.
The process of importing the user-generated content is two shades of a mess. There is a bit of folder structure creation needed, some formatting and a touch of alchemy to make things straight. It's enough to make my head spin. One curious UT3 modder on www.ut3mod.com has devised a handy dandy video and text tutorial to download the content directly to the PS3, without dealing with all of the mess of transferring the files from PC to console. By simply using the browser on the console, you can point to the site and download the files directly from the links provided.
Word around the block is, an update to the Unreal Engine 3 toolset is coming next week to beef up the PS3 support. So more content is right around the corner, but give it up for the folks at ut3mod.com. They are off to a great start.
