GayGamer Video Game Awards 2007

Now that the holiday season is behind us and we've had a chance to play a lot of the games we got over the last year a little more extensively, it's time for the GayGamer Video Game Awards. Some people like to give out their awards before the year is over, but like the Oscars, we believe in leaving at least a little breathing room for the year to be over before we dive in for a fond look back.
Last year we did a reader vote, but since we upgraded to the new version of the software we've had a hard time getting polls to work. So in lieu of that, I asked the staff to write down their three top picks for each category and whichever game got the most mentions won the category. In a year when so many incredible games came out, it was difficult to choose one that was "the best" and in some cases another vote had to be taken to narrow things down and even then we still had three ties: Funniest Game, Gayest Game of the Year and Best RPG. Two of the ties were even between the same two games! Care to venture a guess which two categories had the same set of winners?
To see who took home all the big titles including the highly coveted Game of the Year, make the jump!

Why "best Handheld" and not Best PSP and Best NDS?
Is Bioshock really an original soundtrack? I thought all those songs had been around a long time. Or maybe I don't understand what an "original soundtrack" is.
And thanks for not making the award a dildo or something :D
@ bremerton: Actually, BioShock had quite a lovely orchestral score that is available for download on the Cult of Rapture website. It is true that there were also a bunch of older songs used, but they did not compromise the entire score of the game.
@ Augusto: We're lazy ;)
So, were there any runners up? There's one or two categories where I can't picture another game (scariest comes to mind) competing with the winner.
Persona 3 not getting best RPG (especially over Eternal Sonata, come on guys) hurts my soul.
What about Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland for Gayest Game of the Year? Were import titles just not a consideration?
How come you guys play Jeanne D'Arc, but not Fire Emblem? The FE series is also SRPG, and most of you are Nintendo fans...
(Not to mention the FE series has a lot of gay and lesbian subtext... especially Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.)
How is Mass Effect gay? I accidentally had sex with that asari consort. At least I think I had sex with her. Kinda hetero...
@ Alex:
In Mass Effect, you can have lesbian sex. That is why the game is gay.
So Ratchet & Clank is "best action game" and drake's fortune, also an action game, is "best PS3 game." What?
Nice list, but having best genre games on one hand, and best games per platform on the other hand, leads to some inconsistencies. Maybe the awards could be platform agnostic next year, Although I did like that "best use of the wii remote" category. Hmmm...
@ Blackjack:
I totally agree. I played Eternal Sonata and Persona 3(Almost done with Persona) and I totally believe that Persona 3 is the better RPG.
This was kind of a slow year for scary games. Actually, aside from SH:O (which I didn't play; No PSP), I can't think of any. At least I can look forward to Alan Wake and Silent Hill 5 this year.
