GDC 2008 Gets New Sessions

GDC executive director Jamil Moledina made known some of the new sessions that will take place at the developers' conference this year, not the least of which is a postmortem of Puzzle Quest, an examination I'm really looking forward to. That session will be "Conquering Bane's Citadel: The Collision of Casual and Hardcore Gaming in Puzzle Quest," with Infinite Interactive CEO and lead designer Steve Fawkner presenting.
Machinima and "mind controlled games" also take up new slots, but its this year's "Up Against the Wall: Game Makers Take on the Press" that has me fired up: I missed last year's journalist-focused session, and this year's panel features Newsweek's N'Gai Croal as well as MTV's Stephen Totilo, Kotaku's Brian Crecente, 1UP Yours's Garnett Lee, Game Informer's Andy McNamara, as well as Spike TV's Geoff Keighley. Nothing like a little self-reflection/flagellation to get me in the mood for another year of writing about games!
