Left 4 Dead Moves 2 Fall

left4deaddelay.jpg
Valve has sent word that their upcoming cooperative shooter, Left 4 Dead, has been pushed back until early fall or late summer. The delay presumably affects both the PC and Xbox 360 versions, although no reason or explanation is given. Frankly, I didn't realize this game was originally due this spring, or maybe I did, and just unconsciously added at least six months of "Valve-time" to the first release date.

For those unaware, the game has you and three friends (or AI bots) controlling a party of four survivors in the middle of a zombie, I mean, Infected apocolypse, escaping an infested city or countryside using only their wits, weapons, and unkempt facial hair. Not a fan of the human race? The game also lets you play several different kinds of Infected, using different zombie abilities like acid vomit and incredible agility to take out the remaining population.

Valve recently absorbed the game's developer, Turtle Rock, and the delay has some people speculating about a possible Orange Box 2, containing L4D, Half Life 2: Episode 3, and some heretofore unknown game or games. Any discussion of such a sequel is pure speculation, although you know that after the original Orange Box, no matter how complete the final game is, people are going to bitch anytime Valve doesn't deliver five games on one disk. Greedy!
