New Bionic Commando Screens Swing Into View
Remakes and long-overdue sequels tend to be either hit or miss. Emphasis on the miss part. Now, I'll admit that every now and then these remakes manage to hit the mark and do a great job of delivering the goods, but I've found those to be rather few and far between. For every Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, there's stuff like Ecco The Dolphin, Phantasy Star Universe, Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.
I'm still not sure where I stand on the upcoming Bionic Commando title Capcom's working on. Granted, the graphics certainly look impressive, especially the whole "rough-draft cyberpunk" look that Nathan Spencer is sporting with his big clunky robot arm. On the other hand, I'm not all that overwhelmed by the fact that Spencer runs around the whole game with dreadlocks and five-o'clock shadow. However, Capcom's released a slew of new screens showing off the game's lush visual style, and even I'll admit that I'm impressed by how solid the title's starting to look. Well, sort of... while it looks good, it doesn't exactly look like the game's going to be breaking any new ground with its post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting. On the other hand, it does feature some enemies wearing snazzy-looking hazmat suits and sporting some shiny shotguns... so, take that as you will.
