Nintendo Power Spills Details On Sonic RPG
Man, being a print game journalist has to be rough work these days. When you're not being blackballed by angry companies, you're getting scooped by readers with a scanner, neoGAF account, and particularly speedy mailman. The newest "victim" is Nintendo Power, as their latest cover on the Bioware Sonic RPG has been revealed by neoGAF poster Giggas.
Along with the magazine cover, Giggas went on to list some details about Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood found in the article. The game will have a water color, hand drawn look, and controls exclusively with the stylus. Parties will be made up of four characters from a full roster of 11, seven of which have been confirmed as Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Shadow, and Big the Cat. The battles are turned based, but not random, as you'll see enemies on the field before you encounter them.

Personally, I'm still torn between "Awesome" and "Huh?" about this game, and although I'm all for Big the Cat's return to prominence, some of Sonic's secondary characters make me want to claw my eyes out.

Great, another game that's exclusively stylus controlled. -__-; I hate this. My left hand usually gets tired with holding the DS up, and my right hand sometimes covers the screen which is obnoxious. Why omit the D-Pad?!? D=
"Some of Sonic's secondary characters make me want to claw my eyes out." What? A female toddler bunny named Cream isn't your idea of platforming gaming perfection?
Also, I'm worried that mashing Sonic into turn-based RPG form will ruin the best aspect of the series: speed.
Sonic is trash. It's like Sega is the only ones who don't realize that no one gives a crap about Sonic anymore. Seriously, 'Sonic and the Secret Rings' was a pitiful game, and it's still the best one Sonic has been a part of in the last 10 years.
Avshalon: Play Sonic Rush. No, seriously. No badtalking the hedgehog until Sonic Rush.
I honestly couldn't care less about Sonic RPG. I played Sonic Rush Adventure, and that proved to me that Sonic x RPG elements results in hours of pain.
Also, a new character? Do not want. Why do they never use the other million ones they've already got kicking around?
This game could be really awesome, but the developers will really have to be on their shit. I'm not too crazy on all touch games either, but can't knock it until its finished. Also this would be great if this game was based on the cartoon/comic. Bunny, Princess Sally, and Antoine need a comeback.
