Psychic Analysts Predict 2008 Top-Sellers

Gamestop made a record $2.33 million during only nine weeks this holiday season, thanks of course to top-selling games like Rock Band, Guitar Hero III, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed and Super Mario Galaxy (which were the top five games of the period). The cyberprophets who call themselves industry analysts are scrying their silicate crystal balls for the big sellers of 2008:
- Grand Theft Auto IV (Take-Two)
- Midnight Club: Los Angeles (Take-Two)
- Guitar Hero III (Activision)
- Rock Band (EA)
- FIFA '08 (EA)
- Madden '08 (EA)
- Burnout Paradise (EA)
- Battlefield (EA)
- Mercenaries 2 (EA)
- Borderlands (Take-Two)
- Fable 2 (Microsoft)
- Halo Wars (Microsoft)
- Fallout 3 (Bethesda)
- Saboteur (EA)
- Warhammer Online (EA)
- Spore (EA)
- Frontlines (THQ)
- Wall-E (THQ)
- Call of Duty 4 (Activision)
Most of these are no-brainers that we all could point to as obvious go-to choices for bestsellers, but I'd really like to know the actual ritual behind these prognosticatory picks.

Not a single Nintendo title? They don't think that smash bros is going to do well? or at least better than.. Wall-e?
*yawn*
Smash Bros?
Mario Kart?
Wii Fit??!!
It's not all core gamers!
Only interested in 5 of those.
D: Their lack of Ghostbusters and Super Smash Brothers Brawl is disturbing.
Little. Big. Planet.
Come on. That game will break the bank.
How could they miss that one?
Much less SSB, of course, of course.
I might be coerced into buying TWO of those titles. the omission of Smash is disgusting.
congratulations, analysts, you fail.
No Metal Gear!? Think they need to rewire their crystal balls!
While I'm sure all of these games will sell like crazy, it doesn't take a scientist to figure that out (CoD4 will sell a bunch, really!?!?).
I find the lack of WiiFit to be extremely short sighted. Just about every Wii owner I know wants that game and could easily be the next WiiSports.
