Stargate Worlds Developer Gives MMO Insight

Stargate fans got a taste of the upcoming Cheyenne Mountain MMO last night when Stargate Worlds' first video preview aired during last night's premiere of Stargate Atlantis on the SciFi Channel. We caught our first glimpse of the the characters and environments that will be seen in the game. Gamespot currently features the exclusive video along with their sit down Q&A with studio head, Rod Nakamoto, to find out what we can expect from the expected fall title.
"At launch, Stargate Worlds will focus on the original Stargate experience. It's not a game of vehicle combat, and there won't be player-controlled starships. Players will be able to use starships for transport, but the primary method for getting around the galaxy is the Stargate. Instant action is right on the other side of every Stargate. Travel is a challenge in MMOs, but the Stargate is the perfect tool for getting characters immediately into hot spots." -- Rod Nakamoto, Cheyenne Mountain
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has imagined what it would be like to step through that watery gate into unknown peril. According to Nakamoto, the game's story will take place roughly at the same time as Stargate SG-1 seasons three through eight, using events such as the Replicator War, the Apophis War, the Tok'ra war with the Goa'uld, and the Jaffa Civil War as the backdrops for the game's events.

Please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh PLEEEEEEEEEASE be a good game!
OH so its going to be based on the worst parts of an already unimaginative show (just about every story-line has a Star Trek equivalent). Great.
I still watched every episode though, including Atlantis. Glutton for punishment i guess.
My only problem with it is that it's probably going to be insanely group-focussed. So as to keep a feel like the series where they work in teams.
MMORPG designers should learn that part of WoW's appeal comes from the fact that it's perfectly soloable.
I hope I get proven wrong, but I'm dreading it.
