The Uncharted Depths Of The PS3

drake.jpg

Did you enjoy Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on the PlayStation 3? Did you think it could've been better? Well, turns out it could've. Naughty Dog Co-President Evan Wells, in an interview with VideoGamer.com, declares that things can only get better from here.

"We will continue to refine the Uncharted engine for years to come," Wells said. "With Uncharted, we've only just started to tap into the potential of the PS3. Particularly with the Cell processor, we should be able to do a lot more."

Honestly, Uncharted looks pretty fantastic for what is pretty much a first-generation title for the platform. Compare it to first-gen PS2 games like... um... Eternal Ring or Smuggler's Run, and it's an impressive achievement. It's kind of crazy to think how much better it's going to get. Wells insists that "we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

So basically, Eternal Ring is to Final Fantasy XII as Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is to... um... wow. The mind boggles. That's gonna be cool if developers can pull it off.

so long as they keep him as the protagonist I don't care. He's so dreamy. Who does his voice btw? He reminds me of Nathan Fillion (from Firefly)

He's voiced by Nolan North, who has done some other videogame voicework and some bit parts here and there. His biggest role was on the General Hospital spin-off soap, Port Charles.

yeah I just looked on IMDB :p

He actually looks similar. Plus he voices Cyclops in the upcoming x-men cartoon so that's awesome!

Moi really wants a defined lunchbox. four posts certainly makes that clear. :)

I just love the half-tucked in shirt. dead sexy.

If the developers can just get it running @ 60fps with no clipping, i'll be stoked. the slight screen tears were a bit annoying sometimes. Mind you, walking through the tunnels and seeing the sprawling mines was still a pivotal point for me. never been so stunned.

Oh - sorry about that; the browser didn't redirect so I kept refreshing... and hence 4 posts... but yeah, something down his pants would have been good!

Seriously though, I'm astonished with the fantastic job Naughty Dog have done on this game (shame about the periodic tearing).

Mind you - I've not finished it yet... hope there are no disappointing surprises....
