Video: De Blob's Colorful Gameplay

Last year while checking out the list of IGF finalists, I came across a funny little game called De Blob. In it you play a rolling blob that must color a lifeless city by rolling over colored guys, thus restoring color and life to the environment. What would initially make you feel like you were playing Katamari quickly changes as you realize the control of the ball feels completely different from Katamari, and the mechanic of carefully combining colors to paint color-specific areas of the city presents a fresh challenge to the player. The game feels more like a platformer than the speediness of Katamari.

De Blob was developed independently, and has come a long way since the demo released last year. It is shaping up nicely for its forthcoming Wii release. Check it out when it launched next month in February.

Ah, the times I've seen De Blob played so many times. Toots, you know you're going to make me buy that game, no matter how much I hide in the shadows of my busy schedule...not that I'm complaining with how much fun it looks like it is to play.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
