Video: Lost Odyssey Preview
Ok, so Blue Dragon didn't exactly storm the stage by reinventing the JRPG - or even doing a particularly interesting job of paying it homage. But ever since I saw a demo of Lost Odyssey at E3, I've had much higher hopes for Mistwalker's latest effort.
Veering more toward the latter-day Final Fantasy entries in terms of inspiration (and of course, the participation of FF grandpa Sakaguchi doesn't hurt), Lost Odyssey looks to me to stand a much better chance of bringing JRPG goodness to the Xbox 360 - and the eye candy is in full effect. Whatcha think?

Looks pretty sweet. Can't wait to get more details on this game. Hopefully it'll be released for something other than/in addition to the PS3.
Sar:As far as I'm aware, it's a 360 exclusive.
Yay turn based combat, and Tara Strong is certainly a plus. It's a shame their using lost memory as a plot device though, it's so tired at this point.
PurpleRose: I totally agree. In fact, when I first heard the name of the game I rolled my eyes at what I thought was another generic game title. Turns out it's a specific game title referring to a generic game theme, which isn't a lot better.
That said, at least in Lost Odyssey the characters whose memories are lost seem pretty epic - their lost memories span epochs and clue into a major mystery of the world - why some people are immortal and why they can't remember how they got that way!
whoo. I plan on getting this :D
Holy crap. I was planning on getting this game before, but after seeing that video (and hearing that some of the people behind the Shadow Hearts series are also working on this game) I am going out and preordering it at GameStop tomorrow! And yes, under normal circumstances I avoid giving GameStop any money at all, but the bonus in-game content they're offering to preorders is enough to sway me. Sure, it'll probably be released as downloadable content either down the line or even available on day one, but I'd rather not take any chances.
