Wal-Mart Says "Sorry Kids, Here's $10. Go Knock Yourselves Out."

Were you one of those fast-moving deal seekers who got burned by Wal-Mart's Super Smash Bros. Brawl preorder antics? Well, you're about to get rewarded for taking advantage of an obvious error all that hard work. It's been reported that Wal-Mart should be sending out $10 electronic gift certificates to the grieved parties to make up for their mistake. Of course, that means actually shopping at Wal-Mart.com again, but it's got to hurt them at least a little.
It sounds like the gift certificates also extend to consumers who tried to preorder Haze at $30 and Devil May Cry 4 at $40, as both were also cancelled due to pricing errors. If you preordered any of these and have not received the $10 reparations, you may want to contact Wal-Mart customer service and see about getting your hush money what you deserve.

Do you work for Wal-mart or something? I'm going to keep bitching until I get the game.
@Dennis: If they refunded or never charged you for the purchase, then you really don't have a leg to stand on. Especially since its for a pre-order and the actual game itself was never exchanged.
I got my $10 last night. I will probably use it toward the purchase of a Wii remote charge stand.
As much as I dislike WalMart, I'll say they're nice for even giving out the $10 coupon.
ANY store/catalogue/web site/vendor/what have you make it pretty clear that they're not responsible for and won't honor pricing and label errors. Bitch all you want Dennis, they're right, you're wrong.
Bullshit. Their terms of service say that your price can't be confirmed until after you order. After I ordered, I received a confirmation, which included the 19.82 price. So did most of you. So, Wal-mart is shitting all over their contractual obligations by not honoring this price.
So I'll take that as a yes, you work for Wal-mart... whether you're paid for it or not.
From walmart.com:
Pricing or Typographical Errors
While Walmart.com strives to provide accurate product and pricing information, pricing or typographical errors may occur. Walmart.com cannot confirm the price of an item until after you order. In the event that an item is listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information due to an error in pricing or product information, Walmart.com shall have the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any orders placed for that item. In the event that an item is mispriced, Walmart.com may, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation. Prices and availability are subject to change without notice.
Emphasis mine. Seems pretty clear to me.
(And I'm not sure who you think works for Walmart. I don't. I don't even shop there for that matter, online or otherwise.)
"Walmart.com cannot confirm the price of an item until after you order."
Here's a block of text from my CONFIRMATION email...
"Once an order has been placed and confirmed, it cannot be canceled. Please remember that you can return a product in accordance with our Returns Policy if you are not satisfied. For more information, please read our Cancellation Policy."
Emphasis mine. Seems pretty clear to me.
They are saying YOU can't cancel a confirmed purchase. THEY still have the right to do so in the case of an error.
They drafted the ambiguous language, so the law should recognize an interpretation in my favor. That's why legalese is so fucking awful for mere mortals to read: it has to stamp out any possible ambiguity.
It's not ambiguous at all. It's completely obvious the email says that YOU can't cancel the order. A judge would laugh you out of court. It's also completely clear in their stated policies that THEY can cancel an order for any reason whatsoever, even a made up one if they feel like it. If you don't like it, don't order from them. In fact, the whole thing is funny: it's pretty obvious you don't like Walmart - but you'll disregard that if the price is right, right?
They gave you a $10 coupon. They didn't have to. What more do you want?
If it's so obvious that the email says I can't cancel the order, then why doesn't it say so? Poor Wal-mart. =( Can't afford a lawyer to draft their contract language.
