Xbox Live Issues Kill Achievements: Panic Sets In As I Realise I Might Have To Play Avatar Again

I'll admit it, I'm a becoming a gamerscore troll. I actually rented that god awful game Avatar: The Last Airbender -- The Burning Earth on gamefly for all of 5 minutes so I could unlock the 1000 points. I'm not proud of it, but I'm not asking for sympathy here. Fortunately, most of my achievements have been unlocked for weeks, and have not been shamelessly farming for that last Viva Piñata achievement.
There have been reports of users achievements "disappearing" when during the last few weeks. As you can imagine this has angered a few people. When Dan Landis of Ripten discovered his 800k co-op achievement from playing Freebird in Guitar Hero II missing, (I detest that song, I feel for you man) he was obviously upset. He quickly called up Microsoft's service department to see what was up.
Basically, while attempting to “fix” Xbox Live, they’ve systematically been rolling back and recovering portions of their servers to weed out the bugs. Again, this is not the “official” word from Microsoft, but the guy on 1-800-4my-xbox said that’s what was going on. He seemed to know what I was talking about when I told him my issue, so that leads me to believe he’s not just making stuff up.
This is not the last word on this, and it could still be fixable. Hopefully this problem isn't widespread, and is resolved. I know if I had to invest one more second in Two Worlds, I would probably wind up in Redmond with torches.

I have to disagree with you on one thing. The only problem with Freebird on GHII is that they didn't use the 15 minute version.
