Activision Could Be Making DJ Hero

With the huge success of the Guitar Hero franchise, it was only a matter of time before Activision would look into other venues for their Hero brand. On February 8th, the publisher filed a trademark for "DJ Hero", so we may be looking forward to a wholly different experience with a new peripheral.
Here's the detail of the trademark:
"Computer game software and related instruction manual sold together as a unit; interactive video game programs; computer game discs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games; video game controllers; Interactive video game comprised of a CD or DVD sold as a unit with a video game controller."
If Activision is really going ahead with a DJ Hero game, they won't be the first on the market. Konami made the Beatmania series, with the record-player peripheral. The game boiled down to smashing a row of buttons to the beat of the music. Hopefully Activision will make a game that's more compelling with a better variety of music to keep with the quality of their Guitar Hero franchise.

I would *so* buy this sight unseen. Especially if it's anything like this...

It's a shame that it never got a console release (spinning decks and all). I haven't seen it since I was Japan, was this released in the US or in any arcades here?
Dear lord..I guess activision is going to create a whole line of generic Bemani titles before it's over with. What's next Dance Hero? Pop'n Hero? Keyboard Hero?
more inspired than beatmania...
you mean how guitar hero is more inspired than guitar freaks?
