Early Turok Storyboards Hint At Gay Plotline
Here we have a storyboard sketch from the cross-platform shooter, Turok, where the lead character Joseph Turok is seen in a lip-lock with another man. The scene was discovered at Conceptart.org, among some other Turok sketches. The situation merits a bit of dissection to see this character in another light.
I hadn’t believed what I seen when I first saw the sketch, because this situation is unexpected from the overtly testosterone-infused character model we have seen from previous trailers and demos.
It’s an interesting take on the character. What better way to surprise a player than with an unexpected revelation? Had this cutscene actually made the final cut of the game, it would have really been an eye-opening experience for any player. Regardless of the reaction, the situation would have grabbed the attention of the player for that instant, and the rest of the experience would have been colored with another layer of emotional complexity.
What merits discussion is if this scene would have worked in the final version of the game? Would it have worked as an emotional statement from the character, or just come across and an obvious attempt at milking shock value? Consider he is fighting dinosaurs for a majority of the game in your answers.

WOW. That would have been HUGE. HUGE. Oh man. I really wish they had left it in.
I would give my left NUT to see a character who was gay, but without that being the main focus of the game, or his character.
Turok is awesome as it is (I loved it, anyway)... my god would that ever have been great.
On second glance, I have to say that's definitely a joke. Note the "scene omitted" note under the *one* picture.
It was never going to be in the game...
But oh well, I can dream.
We already have been confronted with some gay moments in games, just look at our Top 20 Gayest Characters List for a few examples.
Regardless if this scene was ever really planned for Turok, it makes me question if a moment like this would work in a FPS.
You know... I'm not surprise at all! Real testosterone, beefy, burly and muscular man are mostly gays (look at freddy mercury!). I saw that one coming since the sausage fest Nintendo 64 game.
Hopefully there will be a director's cut one day.
But what I'm really interested is the creator's point of view for this. Was it a joke? Was it his feeling for the main character? Or did he really intended him to be a homosexual to begin with? I really want to know!
*smiles* I don't know. Watching two grown men kiss is pretty normal, in my opinion. Primarily because, you know, I'm gay. Of course, seeing the media actually depict it as such is an entirely different story. It would have been nice to see. Oh well, there's always Bully :)
