GameFAQs Forum Member Burns Down Church

Internet forum posters aren't always the most level-headed people, so when one says "I'm going to burn down a church" you might brush it off as typically misplaced adolescent aggression. Every once in a while, however, one will surprise you by sticking to his convictions and actually burning down a church.
GameFaqs forum user Jediknight12345 (man, Yoda would be so pissed) posted a question to the site's Current Events board about whether he should burn down a church and school in his hometown of Palmyra, MO. Moderators quickly deleted the thread as a joke, but later Jediknight12345 posted pictures and links to a fire at the Mission Hill Baptist Church, claiming responsibility and describing in detail how and where he set the fires. Other posters on the board forwarded the information to a local news agency, who then passed it along to the local authorities, who were able to track down Jediknight12345 and arrest him, presumably not facing any Force powered resistance along the way.
GameFAQs and its parent company CNET issued the following statement:
"Our thoughts go out to those affected by the Mission Hill Baptist Church fire. GameSpot and GameFAQs message boards are for people to discuss gaming topics. We moderate the posts and pull down inappropriate messages. We are working with the proper authorities to assist in their investigation of this matter."

Respect for the world -10...
However, the post was deleted and fellow message boarders reported it...
Respect for the world +30.
I post quite often on Gamefaqs, so I'm glad to see responsibility from other board members. Shame on this kid though.
As you all know from the news section of the main site, a GAMEFAQ member yestersay burnt down a Church with GameFAQS moderators doing little or nothing about the incident except suspending those complaining about the man who was talking about committing the felony....then he went and did it and even had a picture of him carving "For CE" in the Church/School...
I for one am not Christian and I hate ignorance and intolerance when it comes from the Left or Right! But this incident could of been averted but as you all know complaining about those committing felonies if it goes against the beliefs of the Moderators will fall on deaf ears and you'll be one step closer to being banned for your troubles...
I am tired of these felonies being ignored and the gamefaq staff acting in ignorance. Though I dislike cNET in general but GameFAQS system of their Volunteer and biased moderators has gone too far ignoring crimes. Hell one former Mods alt account compared the fire as a crime in relation to downloading an MP3...
This is sickening
I advise you don't waste your breath or your time asking or reporting threats to the Moderators, if you have before you'll know what happen to your account.
I am asking for people to come forward if anyone knows anything about this incident how Moderators treated those who tried to report the incident or others such as users bragging about they Molested Children then please do come forward and send an e-mail to these addresses...this is the station that reported the crime
Enough is enough people, staying silent isn't doing any good. What would happen if we left this whole incident in the hands of the moderators and there were people inside that church and school? What if the users complaining about sexually abusing children and talking about how they done it are really commiting the act?
I am tired, this is what I sent the news station. If anyone knows anything please come forward, this was the last straw with me and GameFAQs

His Shadow, have you ever been to CE or even LUE? So many people today post hollow threats. Looking for either attention or just having fun.
The mods at gamefaqs aren't paid, they get someone reporting a topic, the topic is closed for whatever reason and that would typically be the end of the story.
Sad fact but the kid went through with it and I doubt anyone on gamefaqs could have honestly stopped it.
I remember the article posted here a few weeks back about the kid on COD4 (I think) who threatened his school and some of the people he was playing with took matters into their own hands.
So by your judgement any of the dozens of people who read the original topic could have "stopped" it from happening.
Bah, why am I even bothering....
I think I am going to quote a fellow gaymer
"Threatening online is actually a serious crime. I hope they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The only way that cnet will get off their asses is if people contact the media and draw a spotlight onto it. As far as I am concerned, you should never say something online that wouldn't say in person to a persons face. People have a tendency to think that they can say and do anything they want online. But there has to be some consequence to their actions"
LOL, RI'er for life!
It's kinda funny as nothing on that board is ever taken seriously. Just like on the Random Insanity board.
One of the more popular topics is if this gets to 500 then i'll... and it could be anything from kiss this girl to cut off my arm. It is never taken seriously although reporting does happen.
If you want people to monitor everything then there will be backlash against the monitors by claiming breach of free speech, stalking, big brother and probably a few others. You can try but I doubt you'll get very far :P
