In-browser, Ad-supported Mayhem - Quake Live

Seriously, how old is that!

As an cubicle monkey, I spend a lot of time playing browser games. Lets face it, it is hard to pretend to be productive when you're holding a DS and shouting "Objection"! That being said, I have a feeling this is going to be a little bit hard to disguise as real work, but it's still pretty darn cool.

ID software had said they were going to be bringing a large scale, free distribution of Quake 3 to the masses and they have finally secured funding through IGA with ad support. Quake Live as it's titled, will be completely free and available through your webbrowser. The PR fluff continued:

Every element of the experience, including friends lists and communication, sponsored events and tournaments, matchmaking, stats tracking, and even the game itself is accessed and delivered free of charge through the web browser.

I'm going to take a guess and say this is going to be for windows users only.
