Left 4 Dead Hands-On Previews

I have been absolutely obsessed with the concept of Left 4 Dead since it was announced last year, but this one slipped by me. Last month, on the same day Valve announced it had bought the developer, Turtle Rock Studios, several of the folks from ShackNews got to go to Valve HQ and try out the game.
Zombie movies are filled with lead characters making stupid decisions. Sometimes the survivors split up. Sometimes they barricade themselves in a room with no escape route. Sometimes those who aren't at all equipped to handle powerful weapons grab them anyway, and accidentally blow themselves up. The list goes on and on.It's easy for viewers, far removed from the action, to criticize these decisions. After all, these folks should know better. You don't mess around with zombies. Everyone knows that. Yet despite having seen just about every zombie movie known to man, when push came to shove, when it was just me and three others survivors facing off a seemingly endless legion of the undead, I made every single one of those stupid mistakes.
August/September can't come fast enough. The game looks like it will be an adrenaline rush in it's purest form. Just running and killing and in many cases dying to zombie hordes. There is a serious lack of good, 4-player co-op games these days, but Left 4 Dead, (at least to me and my friends), looks to be a perfect solution to that problem.
If you want more info on Left 4 Dead, I also recommend checking out Left4Dead411 for a good supply of news, interviews, and screenshots.
