LostWinds Details Found

lostwinds.jpg

When Nintendo revealed the May 12 launch date for its WiiWare service, one of the games they mentioned was LostWinds, but I hadn't heard of it until today. Well, now I've found some more information on it. From Frontier Developments, LostWinds gives you control over the air itself as you control Enril the wind spirit creating everything from raging tornadoes to the lightest breeze as you guide and protect Toku, a child who is naturally the only person who can release the curse placed on the land of Mistralis. Why is it always a child? Hopefully he won't have amnesia.

There's a small gallery of screenshots below, and while the graphics are cute, and decidedly Wii-like, I suspect that this, like many WiiWare titles, will succeed or fail on its control scheme. It's referred to as a "novel, playful control mechanism," but that doesn't really tell me a whole lot. I suspect it'll be like Kirby: Canvas Curse. Oh, and there's been no announcement about pricing or a release date for LostWinds yet, but I suspect it'll be comparable to the costs of games on Xbox LIVE Arcade or the PlayStation Store. Hope it doesn't blow! (sorry, couldn't resist)
