Mass Effect For PC Confimed For May Release
I am, first and foremost, a supporter for PC gaming. I prefere to play anything that involves aiming a gun with a mouse and keyboard and I know that will get me a lot of flack. Portal, thousand times easier on the PC. Thankfully, now Mass Effect is also going to be seeing a release on PCs.
In a recent press release from EA, it was announced the popular action RPG would be making it debut after some minor cosmetic surgery. The game will feature redesigned menus and controls.
- Optimized controls designed specifically for the PC.
- High resolution visuals – Mass Effect for the PC features highly detailed textures, characters and environments.
- Fully customizable controls – PC gamers can re-map the control scheme any way they like.
- Run & Gun Control – Players can assign biotic powers or skills to ‘hot keys’ allowing them to play Mass Effect with a heavier focus on action.
- New decryption mini-game.
- New inventory screen GUI and functionality – The enhanced inventory system makes it easier for players to equip and modify their weapons and armor.
Being somewhat of acheivement whore, I'm currently having mixed feeling about weather or not I should continue farming the Xbox 360 one, or move on to the PC version.
Mass Effect to Land on PC in May 2008 [BusinessWire]

Man, my 360 and the 42 in plasma are begging me for some love, but I just dont have the time right now. That sucks, bc I would so go out and buy the orange box (at a reasonable price, not the 20€ premium they are asking over the PC version) and Assassins Creed and maybe Mass Effect, too. There is such a huge back catalogue :((
Also, let me be the first to dish you some flack - sorta. I wouldn't play BF 2 or Crysis or any other sort of game that really profits from precision aiming on a console, though CoD - apart from being another atrocious WWII rail shooter - did do that quite well. But FPS and related games that originate on consoles (such as Halo, damn, I need to play so many games!) definitely have the game tuned very well to the controls - GoW for instance works perfect for me.
I knew it. I knew it.
So the only exclusive 360 game of fall 2007 is now hitting pc? What a waste....
You see, this is why I probably never will buy a 360. Any games worth playing on that platform will usually end up on the PC sooner or later (and I'm a patience guy :D). This would have been the only reason for me to buy a 360...
I don't think anyone was surprise about this.
Fabulous news! My Rampant Bioware Fanboyism levels have just gone off the chart.
I don't own a PC that can smoothly run any game made since 2006 - my laptop still has a radeon 9600 pro, which did an awesome job with HL2, but that's about the end of the line right now (although, seeing how the EEE PC supposedly runs games like far cry, GTA and Oblivion, it's probably more about how much you're willing to sacrifice. Me, not too much...).
And that laptop combined with my soon-to-arrive EEE PC (and my HTC Smartphone) are all the computing I need. Therefore, a 360 really is a great choice - I get about 4-5 years' worth of brand new games out of the machine without ever having to upgrade. That's $3000 right there, in my imaginary bank account. Not a bad deal at all.
