Max Payne To Begin Filming Soon
Filming for the silver screen adaptation of Remedy's Max Payne will begin in Toronto from March 2nd to May 9th. Mark Wahlburg will be the lead while John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen, Flight of the Phoenix) sits in the director's chair. I loved Max Payne and its sequel on the Xbox. The deliciously cheesy film noir style was wonderful and kept me going the whole the way through. ...and how could you not look forward to more episodes of Baseball Bat Boy!? Here's a brief description of the upcoming movie:
"...the story of a New York cop whose wife and baby are killed by thugs high on a designer drug called Valkyr. Devastated, the cop joins the Drug Enforcement Agency and goes undercover with the mob to find the source of the drug.
Framed for the murder of his partner and hunted down by both the mob and the police, he is forced to wage a one-man war against crime."
In the first game, Max does not join the DEA. At least that's not how I remember it. For now, I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't become some John Woo ripoff type thing with bullet time galore even though that was one of the biggest (and best) aspects of the series. How do you think this movie will turn out?
By the way, I think Max Payne looked much better and way more believable in the second entry to the series. All this makes me want to go back and play them, again.

Max Payne 2 is among my all time favorite games, and I really hope that the movie turns out well.
Actually, Max was in the DEA in the first game, in the second he's returned to being a police detective. So it sounds like they're staying pretty true to the game story. I hope they have the "film noir" filter thing going and have comic-style "pages" for some scenes, that would really help cement the movie as being a good adaptation.
And yeah, Max looked much better in the second game.
