Resident Wiivil Zero

A whole lot of people bought Resident Evil 4 when it was released on the Wii, despite the fact that the Wii's backwards compatibility meant you could just pick up the GameCube version on the cheap. And in the interest of full disclosure, I was one of them. I'd never actually picked up RE4 for my GameCube, and the Wiimote controls were enticing enough I opted for the Wii version. Well, never one to let a cash cow go unmilked, Capcom is now also bringing Resident Evil Zero over to the Wii, according to the latest issue of Famitsu.
Resident Evil Zero is a prequel to the series with some interesting dual-character gameplay. Unfortunately, I already own it on GameCube, so I probably won't be wasting my money on a Wii version, even with Wii-specific controls. Capcom is apparently going to use the RE4 control scheme for RE0, so it'll be interesting to see how they pull that off, since RE0 was the last traditional RE game before the new controls of RE4. This could be enough of a draw for most, but not me. (Though it might entice me to finally pull the game off the shelf and get around to finishing it!) Hopefully Capcom will do the same as with RE4 and offer it at a lower price point since it's another remake.

So I guess we'll never see the classic controls and camera in a main game again...that's a shame. If only they kept the outbreak series going.
word broke that its for japan only
This is even more evidence that RE5 will, at least in some way, have some story involving Rebeca and Billy. It's in Africa, for one, and there has been a lot of focus on these characters lately. I hope so. I've always wondered what happened to them. =)
Goodness! I'd hoped to never have had to EVER run into Rebecca Chambers again!
She's like nails-across-a-chalkboard irritating.
Billy on the other hand...:)
Not that I don't like Resident Evil Zero -- on the contrary, I thought it was a great game. But why remake one in the series that quite a few people did NOT care for? Why not remake Resident Evil 2...? After the original, Resident Evil 2 was the most well-received of the sequels/prequels (Classic RE days, not this new-fangled but oh-so-lovely RE4 stuff), Zero seemingly the worst. It just doesn't make much sense to me. But, then again, I don't run a multi-million dollar company, so what do I know?
Of course, I guess I'm slightly biased since Leon popped my REvil cherry oh so many years ago...
I'm so tired of my Wii getting ports and remakes. Is there nothing new anyone can put out on this little machine? I should say anything new and good and not a sequel?
But I did like RE0 (more so than 2 and 4) but I'm in the minority here so...
RE0 being the only game in the main series I enjoyed less than Code Veronica, it would still be interesting to see this given a RE4-style makeover.
Personally, I wish they'd give RE2 a RE1-on-Gamecube style remake, keeping the old camera/control system for it, only making it stunningly pretty. Thus far all I have is the Dreamcast port (which was still really nice, especially through a VGA box).
I think they could make any of the old games fun by giving them RE4-style controls and gameplay. At least they're not just porting it over the same as it was on the Gamecube.
