Sony Announces MGS4: Sons Of The Patriots PS3 Bundle

Even more info from the Sony's Destination Playstation camp today! In tandem with the announced late Q2 2008 release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Sony will be releasing a special PS3 bundle that will include an 80GB PS3, a copy of MGS4 and one of those fancy new vibrating DualShock 3 controllers for $499.

That is mental! There's the excuse I've been waiting for to buy a PS3 (besides the whole blu-ray win.)
Let's hope is the same price in Canada...
So will this version have memory slots then?
Because if it does (and it becomes available in Europe) I will totally be getting it.
Nexus, the 80GB version has 4 USB slots, all the memory slots, and backwards compatibility.
This is a killer deal.
you can tell they want this game to be a system seller really badly.
when people asked me how i felt about the seventh-gen systems, i always told them two things: i own a wii and love it, by and large, and i don't care for first-person shooters, which basically means the 360 is an overpriced paperweight.
when they inevitably followed this up with a query about the ps3, i said this: i'm waiting until either final fantasy 13 or metal gear solid 4. give me one of those two games, with the quality i've come to expect from the franchises, and i'm there.
looks like i know what i'll be doing on 12 june...
Does this mean they'll be dropping the price on the non-bundled 80GB PS3s?
Most expansive game ever >.
holy shite, i think sony mightve gotten me
I herd from a worker at gamestop that this 80GB PS3 (bundled with MGS4) won't have backwards compatability. Do any of you know if that's true or faulse? Plus stores stopped selling the origional 80GB PS3s and is waiting on the new ones. I really want a 80GB PS3, but I see no need to buy one if it dosen't has backwards compatability. If it does have it, then I'm sold. And if not, $500 just might stay in my pocket unless I go get a 360 with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. But since those are the only two games I feel that are good for the 360, I just might not buy that either.

Spade - we've gotten word that the bundle will have backwards compatibility like the previous 80GB PS3, although until the unit is in stores anything is possible.
Also, if Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are really the only Xbox 360 games you're interested in, I'd suggest that you hold onto your money. The Xbox will likely never be laden with Japanese RPGs.
