Video: VR Head Tracking Demo For PS3
Last month we ran a video about the brilliant Johnny Lee who managed to use the Wii remote and sensor bar to simulate a VR desktop on his TV. Now another VR demo video has surfaced. This time SCEA programmer Tomas Miller has demonstrated the same VR head tracking on the PS3, using the Playstation Eye and some IR LEDs. Here we see the technology demonstrated where he took some exposed and developed film used as a filter on the camera which filters out the video signal except for the IR LED light. Positioning the camera on the TV, the Eye can then track the movement of the LEDs on a pair of glasses and determine the depth and position of your head in relation to the screen. The effect is extraordinary. Miller has uploaded the tech behind this demo so other PS3 devs could use it. This sort of technology could pave the path for some truly groundbreaking games and general desktop navigation.

I have to laugh...
Sony can't come up with it's own unique play... they have to steal someone elses idea.
